Terms of service

Last updated 30 July 2026

Short version: use Prime Lock to gate your own store, pay through Shopify if you go paid, and whatever is free on the day you install stays free for your store, forever.

Scope

These terms cover the Prime Lock Shopify app and the primelock.app website, both operated by Aspedan. Installing the app means you accept them. If you install on behalf of a business, you confirm you may bind that business.

Acceptable use

  • Use Prime Lock to control access to your own store’s content.
  • Do not use it to conceal terms, prices or fees from a buyer who has already committed to a purchase.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt the service, reverse engineer the Shopify Function, or resell the app as your own.
  • You remain responsible for the storefront copy you write, including translations, and for any claim it makes.

The free plan and the grandfathering promise

Prime Lock has a free plan with unlimited locks and checkout enforcement, and no watermark on your storefront.

Whatever is free on the day you install stays free for your store, forever.

That sentence is a binding commitment, not marketing. If a capability that was free when you installed later moves to a paid plan, it stays free on your store for as long as the app remains installed. It survives price changes and plan restructures. It does not transfer to a different Shopify store, and it ends if you uninstall and later reinstall after the change.

Paid plans and billing

Pro and Plus are billed through Shopify’s billing API and appear on your regular Shopify invoice, in your store’s currency. Charges are monthly and recur until cancelled.

Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated by Shopify. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period; paid features stop, and locks that relied on them fall back to their free-plan behaviour rather than disappearing.

Cancellation

Uninstall the app at any time from the Shopify admin. Uninstalling cancels the recurring charge and removes the app embed and metafields. No theme code is left behind, because none is written. We do not charge cancellation fees and we do not require notice.

Availability

We target 99.9% monthly availability for the admin surface. Storefront locking and checkout enforcement run inside Shopify’s own infrastructure through metafields and a Shopify Function, so they continue to work during a Prime Lock admin outage.

Planned maintenance is announced in-app in advance where possible.

Limitation of liability

The app is provided as-is. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aspedan is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including lost sales or lost profits. Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period.

You are responsible for testing your locks before relying on them, and for keeping a record of the access rules you promised your buyers.

Changes to these terms

We will update this page when the service changes, and note the date at the top. Material changes are announced in-app at least 30 days before they take effect. The grandfathering promise above is excluded from change — it can only ever be widened.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of — (jurisdiction to be confirmed), and disputes will be heard in the courts of that jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your own country.
