Prime Lock vs Wholesale Lock Manager: B2B

Wholesale Lock Manager is the right pick if you are already in the Wholesale Helper stack, because one vendor for locking, wholesale pricing and order forms is a genuine operational simplification. The thing to read carefully is the free plan: it applies to development and trial stores, so a live store pays $9.99/month. Checkout enforcement and buyer registration are not in this app's published feature set.
Everything Wholesale Lock Manager publishes, Prime Lock ships on the free plan
All 8 of them, at $0, plus checkout enforcement that Wholesale Lock Manager does not publish. Compare that with their free plan, described below.

Honest assessment
Where Wholesale Lock Manager is a good fit
One vendor, one support team, one B2B setup. If you already run Wholesale Helper's pricing or order-form apps, this lock app shares their conventions and their support queue, and that consistency is worth more day to day than a feature checkbox.
The locking itself is comprehensive, covering products, collections, pages and the whole storefront, and hiding content from your site's internal search as well as from Google is handled deliberately rather than left to chance. Internal search leaking locked product titles is a real and frequently missed problem.
Being able to test locks on an unpublished theme is a small feature that saves real time and real embarrassment. More apps should do it.
The difference
Where Prime Lock is different
Prime Lock compiles each lock into a Shopify Function that validates the cart and checkout server-side, so an order from someone without access is rejected at checkout no matter how the cart was assembled. Checkout enforcement is not in Wholesale Lock Manager's published feature set, so its protection is theme-side.
The pricing comparison is worth being precise about, because the word free appears on both listings. Wholesale Lock Manager's free plan covers development and trial stores; once the store is live it is $9.99/month. Prime Lock's free plan applies to live stores, with unlimited locks and enforcement included, and we publish a written grandfathering promise so what is free the day you install stays free for your store.
Buyer registration lives in a separate app in the Wholesale Helper stack. Prime Lock includes the form, the approval queue and the auto-tagging in the same install as the locks.

Migration
Switching from Wholesale Lock Manager
Step 1
Note your existing rules
Write down every rule you have configured in Wholesale Lock Manager: what it protects, who it lets in, and any schedule attached to it. This is the only step that takes real time, and doing it before you install anything makes the rest mechanical.
Step 2
Recreate them as locks
Build each rule in Prime Lock as a lock: pick the lock type, set Applies to, set Who can unlock, and add a schedule if the original had one. Your customer tags carry over unchanged, because both apps read Shopify's native customer tags rather than storing their own copy.
Step 3
Uninstall Wholesale Lock Manager and check your theme
If you are keeping other Wholesale Helper apps, check whether any of them depend on tags this app was applying, so the tag keeps being maintained after you remove it. After uninstalling, view a locked product as a guest and as a tagged customer, and try a direct cart permalink to confirm the checkout Function rejects it.
