Does Prime Lock support IP-level or city-level restriction?

No. Prime Lock's country access rules are on Pro and work at country level. State, city and IP-level restriction are not in our feature set. If that granularity is a requirement, LockOn is the better tool and we would rather you kept it.

Will my customer tags carry over?

Yes. Both apps read Shopify's native customer tags, which live on the customer record and belong to your store, not to any app. Nothing is copied or migrated: the same wholesale tag that opened a gate before opens it after. Uninstalling either app leaves the tags exactly where they were.

What happens to my locked pages' SEO when I switch?

Prime Lock keeps locked pages indexable with only the price withheld, which for a catalog is usually an improvement over blocking access to the page entirely. Keep the URLs the same and allow time for a recrawl.

Where LockOn - Restrict Store is a good fit

miniOrange's background is identity and access management rather than ecommerce, and the app inherits the good parts of that heritage. Geographic restriction down to state, city and IP address is finer-grained than anything else in this category, and session timeouts and magic links are concepts that come from people who think about access for a living.

Metafield-driven lock criteria is the quietly powerful feature. If you already model something about your products or customers in metafields, you can drive access from it directly instead of maintaining a parallel set of tags.

If your access rules are genuinely exotic, covering internal tooling, regional licensing constraints or membership tiers with expiry, LockOn will bend further than we will, and we would point you at it rather than pretend otherwise.

The difference

Where Prime Lock is different

Prime Lock's locks compile into a Shopify Function that validates cart and checkout inside Shopify on every plan. Checkout validation is not in LockOn's published feature set, so its restrictions govern access to content rather than the ability to complete an order.

Registration and approval, and scheduled date windows, are also not in the published feature set. Prime Lock includes both, with the approval queue and auto-tagging on the free tier and auto-approval rules on Pro.

There is no free plan and the entry tier is $9.99/month. Prime Lock covers the mainstream locking cases at $0 with enforcement included. For genuinely exotic identity rules, LockOn may still be the better tool, and that is a real trade rather than a rhetorical concession.

Switching from LockOn - Restrict Store

Note your existing rules
Write down every rule you have configured in LockOn - Restrict Store: what it protects, who it lets in, and any schedule attached to it. This is the only step that takes real time, and doing it before you install anything makes the rest mechanical.
Step 2
Recreate them as locks
Build each rule in Prime Lock as a lock: pick the lock type, set Applies to, set Who can unlock, and add a schedule if the original had one. Your customer tags carry over unchanged, because both apps read Shopify's native customer tags rather than storing their own copy.
Step 3
Uninstall LockOn - Restrict Store and check your theme
LockOn's IP and geographic rules have no direct equivalent on our free plan. Country access rules sit on Pro, and city or IP-level rules are not in our feature set, so confirm the rules you depend on exist in Prime Lock before uninstalling. After uninstalling, view a locked product as a guest and as a tagged customer, and try a direct cart permalink to confirm the checkout Function rejects it.
